The Product
What is bcToolkit?
bcToolkit is a collection of tools which aggregate and analyse
your Basecamp data via the Basecamp API, producing detailed
reports. These reports have been designed to highlight and track
key performance indicators (KPI's), which are indicative of your
businesses productivity and efficiency. Key to this is that
bcToolkit creates the link between time spent date and a budget for
a project or to do that you can set.
TopWhy do I need bcToolkit
If you're a user of Basecamp, bcToolkit is the natural partner.
In Basecamp you have a wealth of ongoing project information and
collaborative work, all locked up in inidivudal's users todo
entries. What if you could access all these entries and aggregate
them, catagorise, measure and analyse the time spent on them and
compare this to a budget you have set? bcToolkit allows you to do
just that.
TopHow much does bcToolkit cost?

TopThe Process
What do I need to use bcToolkit?
bcToolkit requires a modern internet browser, a broadband
internet connection and a Basecamp account. Simply sign-up and
begin seeing the benefits of a full reporting suite for your data
straight away.
TopHow does bcToolkit access my data?
bcToolkit is given all relevent data when you upload a complete
backup from your Basecamp account. This methods ensures that your
reports will be generated instantly, without relying on pulling
information from through the Basecamp API.
TopHow does it calculate my "estimated time"?
In order to take advantage of the "estimated time" and
"progress" features all todo items must be appended with a value in
square brackets. This value indicates the alloted, or estimated
time for that individual task. eg. "Create new design prototype
for client. [12]" would indicate that this todo is estimated
to take 12 hours to complete. bcToolkit then uses this value to
fill out the estimated column, as well as the progress so far
field.
bcToolkit can add these estimated values onto your
to-dos for you if you wish! Simply add your to-dos to Basecamp and
then login to bcToolkit. Use the "Time by Project" report and enter
your estimated times for the to-dos. Once you're happy, simply
click Update Records and your Basecamp account will be updated,
it's as easy as that.
